To succeed in writing a thesis or completing other academic assignments, students need strong information-seeking skills. Library instruction provides students with the tools to navigate the academic publishing landscape and find and access relevant scholarly publications and other information. We also cover how generative AI can be used in the information search process and how to critically evaluate AI-generated information.
Evaluating information and learning how to cite sources correctly to avoid plagiarism are also important aspects of our teaching. The library offers introductory sessions on Zotero and EndNote, reference management software used to organize references and create citations in academic writing.
In close collaboration with LiU teachers, we help students develop the skills they need to find and evaluate information throughout their studies and in their future professional lives.
We also offer seminars and workshops for doctoral students on information seeking, search strategies, citation databases, and open access.
Book individual guidance in information seeking
The Library offers individual guidance in information seeking for LiU students working on their theses. Students can book a session via Liunet Student, the intranet for LiU students.
LiU researchers and doctoral students can also book individual support in information seeking, for example when conducting a literature review or a systematic review.
