What's your research about?
My research focuses on sustainable business models and their relationship with ecosystems. I am particularly interested in the challenges and tensions sustainable businesses face, and in how they contribute to systemic change in society. These questions bring management and innovation research into conversation with the study of sustainability transitions. Lately, much of my work looks at circular start-ups, regeneration, and ecosystems in Latin America.
Why did you choose to come to Linköping University?
For a couple of years, I have been collaborating with Senior Associate Professor Wisdom Kanda on circular start-ups and circular ecosystems. His unit, Sustainable Development and Strategies (MILJOHUS), works on transition studies, scaling, and circular start-ups, which makes it an especially inspiring place for my own research.Ìý

What will you be doing during your time at LiU?
My visit has several purposes. I am exploring collaborations with local faculty on joint research projects, and together we are building long-term institutional ties between LiU and EAFIT that will let us apply for funding jointly. A good part of my time goes to papers I am co-authoring with LiU researchers. I also value the chance to exchange new ideas and receive feedback on my work.
What do you hope to accomplish during your stay?
Strengthening our ties for the long term matters a great deal to me, and a joint funding proposal to Formas is one concrete step in that direction. I also hope to refine and submit the papers we have in the pipeline and to reflect together on where our research is heading. I will also give a seminar, "Regenerative Ecosystems in the Global South," for the department and anyone at LiU interested in research from the Global South.
